Taddy returns from surgery for Superenduro Round 2
Taddy Blazusiak will return to competitive action this weekend at round two of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship following double shoulder and hand surgery at the end of 2012. Going under the surgeons knife shortly before Christmas, Blazusiak, who crashed heavily prior to the opening round of the Superenduro series, has now been back on a bike for three weeks and is confident of securing a strong result inside the Palau Sant Jordi stadium in Barcelona, Spain.
Ending the 2012 season as US Endurocross champion and early leader of the FIM Superenduro series, Taddy also needed to get himself fixed and subsequently underwent his shoulder and hand surgery. With both procedures going well, and following a period of rest during early January, Taddy has been able to return to both training and riding and has spent three weeks back on a motorcycle, the last two of which practicing on his Endurocross track.
As the current leader of the short but intensive three round Superenduro series, Blazusiak enters the penultimate event with a healthy six-point lead. Despite the shoulder injury sustained prior to the opening round of the series in Poland, Blazusiak rose to the occasion in front of his home crowd to claim a fantastic double race win by topping the nights first and third final.
With almost nine weeks separating rounds one and two of the series, Taddy has spent that time wisely and is now almost fully recovered from his injury. With doctors allowing the KTM rider to return to normal training, Blazusiak has worked hard during the past fortnight to prepare for the race. Spending the last two weeks training hard for the event, the defending champion is feeling confident that he will be able to repeat his winning performance from the series opener.
Taddy Blazusiak: Im looking forward to getting back to racing again following my time off after surgery. Its kind of cool for me to race in Barcelona because the city has become like my second home. I dont live too far away from Barcelona and a lot of my friends are coming to the event to support me. After winning the race last year my goal is too obviously try and repeat that again this year, but I know that wont be easy. Ive had my shoulder and hand injury fixed and although its not in perfect condition Im in better shape than when I raced in Poland. Ive got a six-point lead in the championship but its not enough to allow me to play it safe. There are a lot of new guys coming to this race so that will make things exciting. But if I race smart and stay out of trouble then Im confident I can put myself into the best possible position to fight for the win.
