The Red Bull Minas Riders 2017: Welcome to the Jungle! Belo Horizonte, Brazil, May 17-21, 2017

The Red Bull Minas Riders Extreme Enduro Rallye is the South American version of the Red Bull Romaniacs, the world`s toughest hard enduro event. The race will now take place for the 2nd time - following a successful first edition in April 2016, where superstars like Jarvis, Gomez and Bolton battled their way through the Brazilian jungle alongside upcoming South American talents. The race is the same rally-style Extreme Enduro event as the Red Bull Romaniacs. It consists of four Offroad Days, starts with a small shakedown on the day of registrations (Wednesday) and finishes with an epilogue on the final offroad day (Sunday). The level of difficulty reflects the typical mix of “pleasure and pain” that riders love and hate the Red Bull Romaniacs for. Different from the first edition, the 2017 Red Bull Minas Riders will also feature a new Iron class - accommodating those who are great Enduro riders but new to the “extreme world” of founder Martin Freinademetz. Like the Red Bull Romaniacs and the Red Bull Sea to Sky, the Red Bull Minas Riders is an event from riders for riders, born out of the passion for the Enduro sport. The brain and motor behind these events, Martin Freinademetz, surrounds himself mostly with active riders and people who are passionate about extreme sports. Freinademetz has a track record of creating internationally successful events that are known for some flavor of craziness and for their top-professional execution. All race tracks are developed with Martin`s personal involvement and test-ridden by himself before approval. Some of the challenges during the Red Bull Minas Riders will appear impossible - presenting even the world`s best Extreme Enduro riders with a tough nut to crack! The daily distances cover a range from anywhere between 70km and 200km, using the time-keeping and checkpoints-system of the Red Bull Romaniacs. The trails are fully marked and riders use GPS as backup and for security. The terrains could be described as “Red Bull Romaniacs meeting ErzbergRodeo”, due to the wild character and many mines involved. Once the riders hit the wilderness, they are lead into a unique mix of jungle-trails, vast steppes and high mountain ranges. The track is featuring plenty of “Romaniacs-like” extreme sections, massive altitude differences, slippery roots and rocks and endless, steep single trails up and down the mountains. Ready to race hard Enduros can be rented in Belo Horizonte. To make it all happen, Martin spends months on location and brings in Red Bull Romaniacs track managers for the track-scouting and preparations. The epilogue will be designed and build by Andy Fazekas, infamous for his Red Bull Romaniacs creations of in-city happenings. For 2017, the organizers are again expecting the who is who of international Extreme Enduro athletes to participate and have fit the event smoothly into the event schedule for the year. For the non- and semi-professional riders it means that they will be able to be out there on the race track together with their international super stars and meet them for some noodles at the daily food spots. For all riders, be it “local” South Americans or the internationally traveling race-crews, Brazil is a great addition to the unique race-locations for Extreme Enduro: Brazil has every kind of enduro terrain, the jungle, a very different life-style, passionate fans and a well developed infrastructure. The race-tracks are located around Belo Horizonte, (Beautiful Horizon), which will also be the destination for international travelers to arrive to. Belo Horizonte is the sixth largest city in Brazil and the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil's second most populous state. It is the first planned modern city in Brazil. The city is built on several hills and is completely surrounded by mountains. There are several large parks in the immediate surroundings of Belo Horizonte. Belo Horizonte was one of the host cities of the 1950 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Additionally, the city shared the host of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. For the whole internationally traveling motorcyclist family, friends and fans it will be a new, interesting and fascinating destination. Welcome to the jungle.
