Top-speeds of up to 165 km/h and a sight range of less than 25 meters definitely dont match with the Erzbergrodeos highly developed safety concept for all riders. To wait for better sight circumstances had to be excluded as well at 12:00 a.m. by the race director, as there was no possibility left to secure a fair and safe race for the 1600 riders still waiting to start their prologue. To abort todays race was therefore the only logical alternative.
Shortly after the abortion, Erzbergrodeo mastermind Karl Katoch immediately took good care of the mood of his guests ? and announced an afternoon happy hour for drinks at the festival tent, which filled itself within a few minutes. The afternoon will present further entertaining side-events inside the Erzbergrodeo-Arena such as the GENERALI Interview Lounge, the ONE-ON-ONE rider presentation and the spectacular Freestyle-MX show.
The official results of the GENERALI Iron Road Prologue 2012 will be finalized according to yesterdays race times. The starting list for tomorrows highlight, the Red Bull Hare Scramble, will be published as well on the official website.
