RED BULL KTM FACTORY RACINGS MARVIN MUSQUIN FINISHES 5TH OVERALL AT REDBUD MX NATIONAL

6th Rd. Pro Motocross 2016 – RedBud, MI (USA) Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin captured 5th overall on Saturday with 5-6 moto scores at Round 6 of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Buchanan, Michigan. Moto 1 In 450 Class Moto 1, Marvin Musquin didn’t get the best jump off the line as he began the race outside the top ten. Musquin climbed toward the front, where he vaulted his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION into the top five to capture 5th place in Moto 1. Moto 2 In 450 Class Moto 2, Musquin got off to a top-ten start, where he was forced to come from behind once again. In similar fashion to the first race, Musquin battled his way into a top five position, where he went head-to-head with Blake Baggett on the final lap. Baggett slipped by to secure 5th, with Musquin capturing 6th place in Moto 2. “I didn’t get the best starts today and I’m disappointed with how both races went at the beginning but I am happy with my riding towards the end,” Musquin said. “I’m going to work on getting better starts so I can see what I’m able to do from there.” With 5-6 moto scores, Musquin secured 5th overall for the day where he now sits 3rd in the 450 Class Championship standings. Troy Lee Designs Red Bull KTM riders celebrate holiday weekend with top-10 finishes Shane McElrath and Mitchell Oldenburg rang in the Fourth of July weekend with top-10 finishes for both teammates in front of a huge crowd at RedBud MX outside South Bend, Indiana. McElrath’s 9-5 moto scores placed him fifth overall, while teammate Oldenburg’s 8-9 score helped him round out the top 10. McElrath’s opening moto didn’t start as he would have hoped, getting squeezed out in the first turn and pushing him mid-pack. This set him up to put his head down and pick off as may riders as he could throughout the nearly 35 minute race. His perseverance paid off and he made it all the way up to ninth. Moto 2 started off a lot better for McElrath who claimed the holeshot award and early lead on his KTM 250 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. He kept his KTM up front, but had to overcome a mishap that sent him off the track and back several spots. He was able to recover and make it back up to fifth, giving him enough points for fifth overall. This bumped him up to eighth in the points standings. Oldenburg started the day with a solid ride in Moto 1 where he raced inside the top 10 for a majority of the moto. He remained consistent with a good start in Moto 2 and was able to battle his way into top 10 where he scored ninth. With two grueling motos in the books, Oldenburg scored 10th overall and bumped himself back into the top 10 in the championship points. The series continues to roll on next weekend as the riders return to New England’s MX-338 in Southwick, Massachusetts on July 9. The track is known for its sandy soil, a one-of-a-kind track on the series. Next Race: July 9, 2016 – Southwick, MA (USA) Results 450MX Class RedBud 2016 1. Ken Roczen (GER), Suzuki (1-1) 2.
